Tips from a Newbie: Water, Water, Water (Did I Mention Water?)

(Disclaimer: I am not a doctor! These tips have worked for me, and I wanted to share them with you as you start your CrossFit journey)

When I worked out in the past, it was always in the morning (when it was nice and cool). Now that I know myself better, I know morning workouts and I don't go well together—that snooze alarm is too enticing. This means I work out in the afternoon/evening, when it is MUCH warmer.

Staying hydrated has been very important to me as I begin my fitness journey. I know it seems like common sense, but not drinking enough water during the day can have a substantial impact on how you perform during the workout, as well as how you feel afterwards.

This may be blasphemy to some people—especially since we're in the land of Coca-Cola—but cutting out Diet Coke has done a lot to help ensure I drink enough water during the way. Picking a goal for how many times to refill your water bottle each day and adding in some seltzer water (ohhhh, how I love you, LaCroix) can also help you get in all of the water you need before a tough workout.

So keep drinking all of that water! Your body will thank you for it.
