Athlete of the Month: October 2016

Kesia Odom

All the coaches can admit that our October Member of the Month, Kesia Odom, is focused, driven, and goal oriented. During our goal month last June, she not only got her lifetime first pull up, but also her first toes to bar. Since then, she has accomplished consecutive pull ups and tackled her first rope climb. Not to mention her lifts have gone up as well!

Frequenting the early afternoon classes, she can also be found working out during the noon and even 6 AM classes depending on her and her workout buddies’ schedule. Kesia has been awarded member of the month for her amazing drive that marks her as a certified Caffeinated CrossFit athlete (yes most of you reading this also have amazing drive and will see similar results soon enough) as well as her positive attitude and willingness to go beyond class workouts to get to her next goal. She can often be found going the extra mile with pull ups work, squats, lunges, and core strengthening exercises to get her to the next level.

“She is an OG [Original Gangster]!” exclaimed Coach Charles. (Starting at Caffeinated CrossFit a year ago, she is one of the first group of people who joined the gym.) “She is consistent, and when she comes in, she works hard. She has a lot more potential, all she needs is a little extra push.”

Coach Mary adds:  “I always find her working on her goals, and striving to improve. She is one of the most improved athletes I’ve noticed since coaching at Caffeinated CrossFit.”

Coach Christine speaks fondly saying: “I love when Kesia asks me for “extra credit”. She is committed to her fitness journey and I love helping her thru it. I remember the day she got her first rope climb, she just saw someone else get their first rope climb and said, “I want to do that”, and then she just did it! It wasn’t that she didn’t work on it, it was that all her other training got her strong enough to get up that rope.”
