2014 CROSSFIT GAMES REGIONAL ATHLETE

Christine was a record holder on the Georgia Tech Swim Team. During her summers off, she discovered her love of teaching by coaching her summer swim team. Once her swimming career came to an inevitable end, she was searching for her next big passion. Helen was the WOD on her trial day and her husband (then boyfriend) had already been CrossFitting for 6 months. As a recently retired Division 1butterflier, pullups were her specialty and competitiveness was in her blood, she beat him by 2 seconds and fell in love with CrossFit. The rest is history…

WAY JOE IS LEVEL 1 CERTIFIED

Way Joe has participated in competitive athletics throughout most of his life. He began competitive swimming at a young age, eventually culminating as a member of the team at Georgia Tech, where he and Christine initially met. Following his swimming career he discovered CrossFit. With years of top level athletic experience, competing in lots of local and out of state competitions, Way Joe has a natural penchant for helping and coaching others, challenging people around him to move better and improve themselves in a safe manner. His enjoyment of helping others reach their goals, as well as his desire to create a truly great community, were the major driving forces that ultimately led to Caffeinated CrossFit.

JESS IS LEVEL 1 CERTIFIED

Jessica has been an active person for all of her life. She's been playing soccer since she was five and is a sucker for a donut. Jessica was first introduced to Crossfit two years ago by a friend who brought her to a Halloween Costume Workout. After doing box jumps as Minnie Mouse, Jessica was hooked. Since then, she's had many firsts including pull-ups, handstands, and rope climbs. Her sports background gives her a competitive mindset and helps her stay focused on reaching her next goal. Part of why she coaches is because she's passionate about helping others reach their own goals no matter how big or how small. Her favorite workouts are partner workouts! She loves the push she gets from her teammate to get one more rep in, or go just a little bit faster.

LUKE IS LEVEL 1 CERTIFIED

Luke has been involved in fitness and athletics from a very young age. While competing in baseball from the age of 4 until 20, Luke was fortunate enough to play baseball in the Junior Olympics at the age of 16. While baseball was not the end game, Luke continued to be active and competed in Half and Full Marathons until someone eventually turned him onto Crossfit. Luke started Crossfit in North Carolina, and after two relocation's, he found and fell in love with Caffeinated Crossfit. With his long distance running experience and small stature, he was drawn to cardio influenced, body weight Metcons. Realizing there is more to Crossfit, he quickly fell in love with Olympic Lifting and barbell cycling WOD's.

MARY IS LEVEL 1 CERTIFIED AND NASM CERTIFIED

Mary fell in love with fitness four years ago after she decided to change her life by losing 75 lbs through healthy eating and exercise. CrossFit has changed Mary’s  life in so many ways. Mary has gained strength, endurance, confidence, and has accomplished goals she never knew were possible. Her hope is that you will do the same. Mary loves coaching CrossFit and challenging athletes to their fullest potential. Mary loves teaching functional movements and teaching athletes how to move well. You never know what you’re capable of until you do it. Deadlifts are her favorite and she pretty much loves anything involving a barbell. She loves to lift heavy things but she also loves to move fast in a metcon.

MIKE V. IS LEVEL 1 CERTIFIED

Mike was a competitive athlete from a very young age. In 1997 he began swimming competitively and eventually became one of the top swimmers in the state of Georgia which led him to the Georgia Tech varsity swim team in 2007. After receiving his bachelor's degree from Georgia Tech, Mike worked in the manufacturing industry while also coaching age group club swimming where he realized his passion for helping others achieve their athletic potential. After joining Caffeinated CrossFit in 2015, he knew he could apply his knowledge and skills to help the members of the gym meet their fitness and wellness aspirations. Mike loves long aerobic workouts with high reps and gymnastics in the gym and swimming whenever he gets a chance to be in the pool.

CLAIRE IS LEVEL 1 CERTIFIED

Claire has been an active member in the CrossFit community for nearly 4 years. From participating in various sports all through out high school (cross country, crew, and soccer), to a passion for nutrition and a love of helping people, CrossFit was a natural fit! She became L1 certified in September of 2016 and hopes to further her education with her L2 certification, as well as CrossFit Kids and Weightlifting certifications in the near future. Through her passion for nutrition, functional movement, and always wanting to be a better version of herself, she hopes to be a helpful and inspiring coach. Her favorite barbell movement is the clean and jerk, her favorite gymnastic movement are handstand walks, and her favorite WOD is Diane.

KAT A. IS LEVEL 1 CERTIFIED

Kat has been involved with competitive sports her entire life. She grew up playing all types of sports -- soccer, basketball, tennis, golf, swimming and riding horses just to name a few. She started playing lacrosse as a sophomore in high school and was able to go and play in college at Washington & Lee University in Virginia.  It was there, where she fell in fitness and weight lifting. She became two-time All-American and the Defensive Player of the year for Women's DIII Lacrosse while in college.  After graduation, she moved out west to be a wrangler on a dude ranch where she taught guests to ride horses and lead rides in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming.  For the winters, she taught skiing in Aspen to 3-6 year old children.  From there, she joined Colorado College as an assistant coach and coached Women's Lacrosse.  As you can tell, she has always loved being active and coaching/teaching others.  Since coming to Atlanta in 2013, she has continued her love for coaching and helping develop athletes at Lovett High School with the varsity girls lacrosse team and through crossfit at Crossfit Rx and most recently here, at Caffeniated Crossfit.
